If you search for that, you’ll definitely come across Kaneyo Shokudo.
But honestly speaking,
this place is very hard to find.
You drive down a narrow road, wondering, “Am I really going the right way?”
But at the end of that path, you’ll find a place that’s absolutely worth the journey.
“A little sense of adventure… isn’t that part of the fun?”
Highlight ①: The real closeness to the ocean
Kaneyo Shokudo is a café renovated from an old fisherman’s hut.
Right in front of you is the ocean, creating a real sense of connection between daily life and the sea.
Unlike the calm and polished beaches of Hayama, this place feels a bit more wild.
It’s an ocean for working, an ocean that’s part of everyday life.
The terrace seats are covered, so you can relax while feeling the sea breeze.
In summer, more outdoor seating opens up, giving it the feel of a beach house.
Even the slightly foggy windows and handmade interior details
add to the charm—an unpolished, natural atmosphere that feels real.
Highlight ②: Fresh fish and seaweed poke rice
What we ordered this time was
Hawaiian poke rice with local fish and seaweed (¥2,200).
It’s packed with local fish from Misaki and plenty of seaweed.
The presentation is beautiful, and it truly feels like you’re tasting the ocean itself.
What stood out the most was the texture of the seaweed.
The crunchy bite adds a unique touch,
creating a completely different experience from a typical seafood bowl.
“I didn’t expect seaweed to be the star of the dish.”
Highlight ③: A hearty spicy chicken dish
Another dish we tried was
Spicy chipotle chicken dish (¥2,200).
The chicken is generously portioned,
layered with salsa and bold spices, creating a dish full of flavor in every bite.
The smoky heat of the chipotle stands out,
bringing out the rich taste of the chicken perfectly.
It also comes with plenty of vegetables, making it very satisfying.
It feels less like a café dish and more like a proper, fulfilling meal.
You even get a lovely appetizer with lunch!
Highlight ④: A place shaped by people and atmosphere
The charm of Kaneyo Shokudo isn’t just about the food.
The space, built from a fisherman’s hut,
its identity as an art studio,
and the warmth of the staff—
all come together to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
It doesn’t feel like a typical tourist spot.
Instead, it has a calm, hidden-away vibe that only a few know about.
“It feels like time flows differently here.”
For families with children
This café is family-friendly.
The space is relatively spacious, making it comfortable for dining with kids.
However, since access can be a bit tricky,
it’s recommended to check your route in advance if you’re using a stroller.
Dog-friendly information

If your dog is well-behaved, you can enjoy a relaxing seaside time together.
