“Today, I just want a comforting meal.”

That feeling led me to a cozy little place just steps from Zushi Station.

This time, I visited “ICHI Obento-Cafe,” a new spot opened by the popular Hayama catering and bento shop, ICHI.

The shop opened in 2025, and surprisingly, its main theme is a specialty gyoza restaurant.

But this is far more than just a gyoza shop.

Just like the original ICHI bento business, which has long focused on wholesome food, the flavors here feel warm and comforting.
There’s also a soft, welcoming atmosphere that makes even solo diners feel completely at ease.

The moment I stepped inside, I instantly thought,
“Ah… this place feels relaxing.”

Highlight #1: A Proper Set Meal for Just 700 Yen? Honestly Surprising

This is what I ordered:

Gyoza Set Meal Single (700 yen before tax)

The meal includes:

• 5 gyoza
• Rice
• Miso soup
• Pickles

A simple, classic Japanese set meal.

But honestly, it was really good.

The first thing that shocked me was the price.

I almost wanted to ask,
“Are you really allowed to serve this for this price?”

Nowadays, lunches over 1,000 yen are completely normal in Japan, so this felt incredibly affordable.

And it’s not just cheap.

The rice and miso soup were genuinely delicious too.

It didn’t feel like a random side set thrown together.
You could really taste the care put into an everyday meal.

The gyoza themselves are slightly smaller in size.

But once you take a bite, the chewy wrapper and juicy filling spread beautifully in your mouth.

Some reviews mentioned that the filling contains lots of vegetables, and personally, I thought the balance was excellent.

Not too heavy, not too light.

The kind of gyoza you could happily keep eating forever.

And honestly,
these would pair amazingly well with drinks too.

In fact, they offer a “quick drink set” with 4 gyoza and an alcoholic drink for just 1,000 yen, which sounded very tempting.

Since it’s only a 1-minute walk from Zushi Station,
I can imagine many people stopping by casually after work.

In Hayama, ICHI is already well known for its catering and handmade bento boxes.

The shop has long focused on carefully selected Japanese ingredients and additive-free seasonings,
serving meals that feel gentle on the body.

Originally, the business began with a desire to support busy parents who still wanted to feed their families safe and nourishing meals.

The owner, Ichiko Sato, was strongly influenced by natural food educator Yuriko Tojo and has continued her work with the philosophy of “valuing food and the life within it.”

Maybe that’s why the food here feels so calming.

It’s not flashy or trendy,
but somehow deeply comforting.

It felt like the kind of meal you could happily eat every day without ever getting tired of it.

The café is located just steps from Zushi Station.

But because it’s on the second floor, it feels surprisingly calm and quiet.

The interior is compact, but that’s part of what makes it so cozy.

Rather than a loud group-dining atmosphere, it felt perfect for:

• Solo lunches
• Casual meals with friends
• A quick drink after work

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.

What also stood out to me were the owner and the chef.

They were both incredibly friendly,
and somehow made the whole place feel comfortable.

You know those places where you can instantly imagine regular customers slowly gathering over time?

This felt exactly like that kind of place.

Detailed information regarding children and babies inside the restaurant was not confirmed, but the atmosphere felt calm and relatively family-friendly.

Being just a one-minute walk from Zushi Station is also convenient for visitors using strollers.

However, since the café is located on the second floor and the space is fairly compact, visiting during less busy hours may feel more comfortable for families with small children.
