This time, I visited Pacific DRIVE-IN, one of the most popular cafés in Shichirigahama.
On days when I head out alone toward Kamakura, time seems to move just a little more slowly.
After riding the Enoden train and walking while gazing at the sea, I arrived at a special place where the Shonan coastline stretches out right in front of you.
Eating delicious garlic shrimp while simply looking out at the ocean.
It was the kind of place where doing nothing feels like the greatest luxury.
In this article, I’ll share what I loved from my visit, along with some of the special touches that make this café so popular.
Charm 1: A Front-Row Seat to the Sea of Shichirigahama
Pacific DRIVE-IN is a Hawaiian-style café located on the ocean side of the Shichirigahama beach parking area.
The Shonan sea spreads out right in front of the café, and on clear days you can even see Enoshima and Mt. Fuji.
You can enjoy the view from inside, but the terrace seats are definitely the highlight.
Sitting there with the sea breeze on your skin almost makes you feel as if you have slipped away to Hawaii.
On the day I visited, many people were relaxing slowly while looking out at the ocean.
It is less of a “place to stop by” and more of a destination where the time spent there becomes the whole purpose of the trip.
That is the kind of place it is.
“Before I knew it, I had been staring at the sea without thinking about anything. Sometimes, that kind of quiet moment is exactly what you need.”
Charm 2: Garlic Shrimp Inspired by the Famous Flavors of Kahuku, Hawaii
What I came for this time was the
Garlic Shrimp Plate（1,750 yen）
According to the official website, this garlic shrimp is one of their signature dishes, inspired by the famous local specialty of Kahuku, Hawaii.
One bite was enough to understand why it is so popular.
The shrimp were plump and juicy.
The outside was crisp and beautifully fragrant.
The aroma of garlic instantly worked its magic, making the rice impossible to stop eating.
It was a generous plate, but it was so delicious that I found myself completely absorbed in it.
I actually could not finish everything and took the rest home, but the moment my husband tried it, he said,
“I want to eat this again!”
He absolutely loved it.
We were still talking about it the next day, so it clearly became one of our favorites.
This is a dish worth making the trip for.
Charm 3: Even the Lemonade Deserves the Spotlight
I also ordered the
LEMONADE (750 yen)
Its refreshing citrus flavor paired perfectly with the garlic shrimp.
Sipping it while gazing out at the ocean somehow made it taste even more special.
At Pacific DRIVE-IN, it’s not just the food that shines—the drinks are just as memorable.
Even after finishing your meal, you’ll want to stay a little longer and simply enjoy the beautiful seaside view.
Charm 4: Comfortable Whether You’re Alone or with Family
Looking around the café, I saw
families.
Groups of friends.
Couples.
And people quietly enjoying time by themselves.
Everyone was spending time in their own way, completely at ease.
One of the biggest attractions of this café is that you never feel out of place, even if you come alone.
As I sat there watching the waves, I found myself thinking,
“I’m really glad I came all the way here today.”
It was one of those simple moments that stay with you.
It’s also the perfect place to stop after a day exploring Kamakura.
Charm 5: Experience a Hawaiian Morning in Shichirigahama
Pacific DRIVE-IN opened in 2015.
Its concept is inspired by the Hawaiian tradition of locals stopping by a drive-in to enjoy breakfast before starting their day.
The menu was supervised by a chef with experience in Hawaii.
They are equally passionate about their coffee, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of Shonan.
Whether you visit for breakfast, lunch, or at sunset,
the scenery changes throughout the day, giving you a completely different experience each time.
Great food is wonderful, but when the coffee is just as good, you know you’ll want to come back again.
“I’d love to come back someday, sit here alone again, and simply watch the ocean.”

Families with children are very welcome.
With its spacious indoor seating and terrace, I saw many families enjoying their meals together.
Since the café operates as a self-service restaurant, visiting outside the busiest hours may be more comfortable if you’re dining with young children.
Dog-Friendly Information
Dogs are welcome on the terrace.
You can relax with your furry friend while enjoying beautiful ocean views.
Many visitors stop by during their walks, adding to the relaxed Shonan atmosphere.
