This time, I’m introducing “Mame to Hibi by earthenplace,” a cafe that opened last year just a 1-minute walk from Higashi-Zushi Station.
Have you ever wondered, “What kind of town is Higashi-Zushi?”
It’s actually a rising area where small, well-designed shops are scattered around.
Among them, this cafe feels like a place where you can gently exhale in the middle of a quiet neighborhood.
I’ll share what I loved about it, carefully and clearly.
Highlight 1: A “little pause” cafe in a quiet Higashi-Zushi neighborhood

The shop is very compact. But the moment you open the door, you feel comfort and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The owner and staff are friendly, and even first-time visitors naturally end up chatting.
Many people stop by for takeout, while others sit and relax inside.
It truly feels like a small oasis in a residential part of Higashi-Zushi.

“Do you ever have days when even sitting down for 10 minutes feels like a lifesaver?”
Highlight 2: Fresh-roasted aroma and a gentle taste you’ll want every day

At Mame to Hibi, the coffee seems to value an easy, everyday balance rather than anything flashy.
Not too bitter, not too heavy.
The kind of cup you find yourself reaching for again—this is the taste they aim for.
This is what I ordered:
・Vienna sausage bread (561 yen)
・Cafe latte (520 yen)
The latte had a gentle balance with milk—comforting and calm.
The bread was simple and satisfying, a great size for breakfast or a light lunch.
Some reviews mention that bread can sell out early, so visiting earlier in the day may be a good idea.

The Story of Owner Mr. Takamura

Mame to Hibi was created as the second location of “earthenplace,” a dog run and garden cafe in Koyasu, Yokosuka.
The cafe is run by Mr. and Mrs. Takamura.
While carrying on the spirit of earthenplace, originally built by their parents, they opened this new cafe in Higashi-Zushi as “a cafe along your daily route.”
Their concept is simple yet meaningful: to create a small margin of calm in busy everyday life.
Between housework and work. In the middle of parenting.
Even 10 quiet minutes can make a difference.
They shared stories of fathers on childcare leave stopping by for takeout, and mothers gently slipping in for a short solo break.
From the interior to the signage, they shaped the vision themselves, valuing the idea of building the space with their own hands.

“It’s beautiful to value not just the coffee itself, but the time spent with it.”
