Opening | A Spot Worth Remembering When You Miss Lunch in Kita-Kamakura
Hayanavi usually introduces lovely spots around Hayama and the Shonan area, but this time we ventured a little further to Kita-Kamakura to visit “KOME TO COFFEE.”
It’s about a 13-minute walk from JR Kita-Kamakura Station, near Kenchoji Temple — a calm, standalone-house restaurant.
It’s usually a popular spot with a line out the door, but on weekends the last lunch order is at 4pm. We visited around 3pm on a Saturday and were able to walk right in without waiting.
“I was out sightseeing in Kamakura and missed my chance to eat lunch…”
If that sounds like you, this is a great option for a later lunch.

Charm Point ①|The Rice Itself Is the Star, Not Just the Side Dishes
True to its name, what stood out most at KOME TO COFFEE was how delicious the rice was.
Rather than playing a supporting role, the rice took center stage — every bite made us reach for another.
The calm interior also makes it easy to slow down and enjoy freshly cooked rice alongside your dish. It’s perfect for a break during a stroll through Kita-Kamakura, or for a day when you want to properly savor a meal.

“The side dishes were great, but honestly, I could have kept eating the rice on its own!”
Charm Point ②|The Jumbo Fried Oyster and Shrimp Are a Feast Down to the Batter

The “Jumbo Fried Oyster & Shrimp Set” we tried this time was 2,800 yen (tax included).
The generous fried oyster and shrimp had crispy, satisfying batter, and it was a hearty set meal that paired perfectly with the rice.
It’s a great pick for fans of fried food, or for those days when you want to treat yourself to a really satisfying meal out.

“Both the shrimp and the oyster were so crispy — this set alone was worth the wait!”

Charm Point ③|Fluffy Dashimaki Tamago Paired with Eel — A Real Treat

The other dish we ordered was the “Dashimaki Tamago & Eel Set” for 2,300 yen (tax included).
Fluffy dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelet) topped with eel makes for a combination that’s exciting just to look at. You get to enjoy the gentle flavor of the egg alongside the rich, hearty eel, all with freshly cooked rice.
It has all the comfort of a classic set meal, while still feeling like a little something special.
Charm Point ④|Simmered Whitebait and Bluefin Tuna Make Your Rice Even More Luxurious

If you order a set meal, you can also add toppings for your rice.
This time we tried the simmered whitebait for 700 yen (tax included) and the bluefin tuna for 1,500 yen (tax included). Pairing delicious rice with fresh seafood opens up even more ways to enjoy your bowl.
Both toppings are only available as an add-on when you order a set meal.

“Both the whitebait and the bluefin tuna go perfectly with the rice — this is almost too luxurious!”

To finish off the meal, we also had a slice of vanilla strawberry cake for 900 yen (tax included). Being able to fully enjoy a set meal and then follow it with coffee and something sweet is what makes KOME TO COFFEE so interesting.

Note for Babies & Kids|Strollers Are Welcome
KOME TO COFFEE is family-friendly, and strollers are welcome inside.
That said, depending on how crowded the restaurant is and which seat you’re shown to, smooth entry isn’t always guaranteed. If you’re planning a lunch with mom friends or little ones, it may be more comfortable to avoid the busiest peak hours.
There are no private rooms, and the entire restaurant is non-smoking. Reservations are currently paused, so seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dog Info|Best to Check with the Restaurant Directly
Whether dogs are allowed inside, and whether there’s outdoor seating, is currently unconfirmed.
If you’re hoping to bring your furry friend along, please contact the restaurant directly before your visit.
