This time, I visited “kitchen Bitte,” a yoshoku-style Western restaurant located very close to Higashi-Zushi Station.
Actually, I had tried to visit this restaurant about three times before, but every time I went, the lunch had already sold out and the restaurant was closed. I thought, “Maybe if I go close to the last order time, I won’t have to wait,” but this is the kind of popular place where that strategy simply does not work.

“When I keep missing a place like this, it makes me want to go even more.”
On my fourth try, I finally decided to line up around noon on a rainy day. There were already two groups waiting in front of the restaurant, but just seeing that I might finally be able to get in made me genuinely excited. After eating there, I completely understood why people gather here even on a weekday.

Charm 1: A Small, Warm Yoshoku Restaurant Loved in Higashi-Zushi
kitchen Bitte is a cozy yoshoku restaurant in Higashi-Zushi. The space is compact, but the warm wooden interior gives it a gentle, welcoming atmosphere with a slightly nostalgic feel.
According to the information on Tabelog, the restaurant has 18 seats. There are counter seats and sofa seats, and the restaurant is non-smoking. Because it is not a large restaurant, you can feel the warmth of the place while waiting for your meal.

“Even though it was my first time inside, it somehow felt like a place I had known for years.” That sense of comfort really stayed with me.

Charm 2: A Satisfying Lunch at a Price That Feels Truly Kind

What surprised me this time was how reasonably priced the lunch menu was. Many of the dishes are around 1,100 yen including tax, which feels especially appreciated these days when eating out has become more expensive.
I ordered the stewed meatball lunch for 1,100 yen and the hamburger steak lunch with demi-glace sauce for 1,188 yen. I also added two fried shrimp to the hamburger steak for an additional 396 yen.
Nothing felt flashy or overdone, but every dish was satisfying and gently comforting. It was the kind of lunch that makes you feel, “I had a proper, delicious meal today.”
Charm 3: Hamburg Steak, Meatballs, and Omurice — The Kind of Menu That Makes You Want to Come Back

Looking through the menu, you will find all the classics that make yoshoku lovers smile — hamburg steak, omurice, fried dishes, and more. Even in customer reviews, dishes like omurice, chicken tender cutlets with cheese, and pork ginger repeatedly appeared as favorites.
The stewed meatballs I ordered this time had a particularly gentle flavor. The demi-glace sauce on the hamburger steak was rich without being heavy, making it easy to enjoy every bite until the end.

“What should I order today?” Restaurants that make you hesitate in a good way are usually the ones you keep coming back to.

Charm 4: A Family-Friendly Restaurant Created by a Couple Raised in Zushi

According to an article published by Zushi City, kitchen Bitte is run by Taku and Satomi Aoki, a couple who were both born and raised in Zushi. Taku had dreamed of opening his own restaurant since high school.
When creating the restaurant, they focused on building a place where everyone — from small children to elderly guests — could feel comfortable. Their goal was to serve familiar home-style Western dishes elevated with the skills of professional cooking.
You can also feel that philosophy in their pricing. Their wish to create a place where people can casually stop by feels very real once you sit down and experience the atmosphere yourself.

Baby & Family Note
According to Tabelog, children are welcome here, including infants, preschoolers, and elementary school children. Kids’ menu options are available, and strollers are allowed inside. This makes it a comfortable option for family lunches or casual meetups with friends and children. Since the restaurant is compact and popular, visiting outside peak lunch hours may make things easier. Lunch reservations are accepted outside the 12:00 hour, including 11:00 and 13:00 time slots.
Dog Information
Information about bringing dogs is currently unconfirmed. Whether terrace seating exists or pets are allowed inside could not be verified from the information available. If you plan to visit with your dog, checking directly with the restaurant beforehand is recommended.

Summary: A Place to Remember Whenever You Feel Like Eating Yoshoku in Higashi-Zushi
kitchen Bitte is not simply a convenient restaurant near the station — it is a local restaurant with clear reasons why people love it.
The popularity that kept me from entering three times before, the affordable yet satisfying meals, and the couple’s philosophy of creating a welcoming place for everyone all make sense once you experience it for yourself.
