This time, we visited “Floating Ganesha,” a yoga studio located just a 3-minute walk from Zushi Station.
It’s well-known among women as a healing space focused on aerial yoga.
But this place is more than just a yoga studio.

Studio owner Hiromi’s journey with yoga began in the U.S. Her dream? To create a place where mature women can gather, connect, and grow. That’s the essence of Floating Ganesha.

Let us introduce the heartfelt vision and inspiring story behind the studio.

Letting Go and Floating Free—Discovering Aerial Yoga

What comes to mind when you hear “aerial yoga”? Honestly, I had never even heard of it before visiting.

It’s a form of yoga where your body is supported by a suspended fabric (hammock), allowing for gentle, flowing movements in midair.

Hiromi’s first try was on the second day of her period. She felt heavy and unsure—but afterwards, she was amazed:

“Right after finishing, my PMS symptoms vanished. My body felt light… It was unbelievable.”

This experience became a turning point. She wanted more people to feel this healing sensation.

Aerial yoga isn’t just fitness—it’s therapy. Hanging upside-down helps internal organs, sagging muscles, and even the mind return to their natural balance.

This is the reason behind Hiromi’s passion for aerial yoga.

The Story Behind It All: Hiromi’s Passion and Origins

The “Open Spirit” and Inclusive Learning She Found in America

As a university student in the United States, Hiromi stumbled upon a yoga class on campus. What struck her was how seriously the American students practiced yoga and how much respect they showed for this Asian-rooted tradition.

“Would you like to try it too?”

The welcoming attitude of the instructor drew her in, and she joined the session on the spot. It wasn’t just the physical movement that felt good — it was the experience of seeing how effortlessly people embraced new cultures and ideas that made a lasting impression on her.

“I wanted to recreate that openness in my own studio one day,” she recalls.

Floating Ganesha is infused with that same spirit. When new students arrive, regulars naturally step in to explain how things work — sometimes even before the instructors do!

This welcoming vibe is a direct reflection of Hiromi’s own philosophy, and it has shaped the warm, inclusive culture of the studio.

A Glimpse into New York’s “Adult Social Spaces”

During her time in college, Hiromi frequently visited New York, where she was drawn to lounges where adults gathered freely — enjoying music, conversation, and good company.

“In Japan, being an adult often meant being tired, overworked, and putting yourself last. But the people I met in those lounges were different — they were vibrant, joyful, and doing what they loved.”

That vision — of adults enjoying their own space and time — became the seed for the studio’s offline salon concept.

“There are so few places where adults can simply connect, share their thoughts, and laugh together.”

Many of the current students at Floating Ganesha are drawn by that very need — the desire for meaningful connections and personal time.

These early inspirations have taken root in the studio, shaping a space where women of all ages can shine freely and boldly.

And that, says Hiromi, is the essence of Floating Ganesha.

For Everyone Wondering, “What Was It That I Wanted to Do?”

As adults, we often get caught up in work and family, losing touch with our inner voices. Have you ever paused and thought:

“What was it that I wanted to do?” or “I don’t have any special skills, nothing I’m really good at.”

Hiromi-san once felt this exact way. But as she moved her body more, her thoughts became clearer, and she began to hear her inner voice again.

That’s why she says, “I want people who feel stuck to come here.”

Releasing the body can be the first step to freeing your thoughts—and your life. That’s the deeply held intention behind this studio.

Hiromi wants every person to realize: you have something unique to offer. You can shine.

Many members at Floating Ganesha have their own strengths—like making jewelry, cooking, or aromatherapy. But often, they downplay their abilities, saying, “Nobody needs this,” or “It’s not a big deal.”

“But that’s such a waste,” says Hiromi.

During breaks or events, people naturally start teaching each other their skills. Without realizing it, they become the seed of someone else’s learning.

Hiromi hopes that through these small exchanges, people can rediscover their potential and take that first step forward.

Floating Ganesha is built around this vision.

Even Beginners Can Feel at Home—Thoughtfully Designed Classes

Floating Ganesha offers classes like “FUN1” for absolute beginners and relaxing low-hammock “Restorative Yoga.” Even those without an exercise routine or with limited physical stamina can feel safe and supported here.

“Gravity actually helps you move more freely,” says Hiromi.

Aerial yoga enables gentle movement that feels light and refreshing—perfect for those feeling physically or emotionally tired.

“Health” Isn’t Built in a Day – That’s Why the Environment Matters

At Floating Ganesha, they value the balance of exercise, sleep, and nutrition as the three essential pillars of well-being.

As your body gets in shape through movement, your sleep improves, and with better sleep, your eating habits naturally shift too. Over time, this leads to a more balanced life both physically and mentally.

With the philosophy that “Habits build a healthy life”, the studio supports you in building sustainable wellness through yoga. They believe your life itself transforms when yoga becomes a part of your daily routine.

Peace of Mind for Moms – Yoga with Babies & Children

Do you feel like you can’t find time for exercise because of your children? You’re not alone.

Floating Ganesha offers maternity yoga and pelvic adjustment yoga classes, specially designed for pre- and postnatal mothers. The instructors are mothers themselves, offering guidance based on real experience.

Many moms come here just wishing for some time to themselves—and leave feeling lighter and more refreshed.

The Future of Floating Ganesha – Beyond the Studio

“Right now, everything happens in the studio—but I want to go beyond.” That’s what Hiromi says about her future vision.

She’s planning to expand outside, embracing new opportunities beyond the studio walls.

One idea is a nature retreat—a 2-night, 3-day wellness getaway in Ise-Shima, Mie Prefecture. There, guests will experience aerial yoga, mindfulness meditation, and healthy meals prepared with local ingredients, all surrounded by the sea and forest.

This isn’t just about exercise. It’s about embracing “doing nothing” and reconnecting with your inner self.

She’s also considering international workshops and seminars that help people with unique skills shine with confidence.

Her dream is to create a place where people can rediscover their special talents and take pride in their lives. And of course—have fun while doing it!

Hiromi is committed to helping people use Floating Ganesha as a launchpad to take their next big leap.
