Today, I’m introducing “Yuunagitei”, a charming standalone restaurant nestled in a quiet residential area of Hayama. Known for its hearty Western-style cuisine crafted from fresh local ingredients, Yuunagitei feels like dining at a family member’s cozy home.
Funny enough, I initially misread the name as “Restaurant Ta Yuunagitei,” which led to a moment of confusion at the door! But as soon as I stepped inside, the warm, homey atmosphere instantly put me at ease.
Let me guide you through their delightful menu, and don’t worry—I’ll also include tips for dog owners and families with young children!

Highlight 1: Savor Local Ingredients in Every Dish

At Yuunagitei, every dish features the finest ingredients sourced locally, including premium Hayama Beef and fresh Kamakura Vegetables.
Here’s what I had during my visit:
- Hayama Beef Grilled Menchi Katsu (includes salad, rice, dessert, and coffee): ¥2,200 (tax included)
- Special Fried Jumbo Prawn with Homemade Tartar Sauce & Hayama Beef Mini Hamburg Steak: ¥3,000 (tax included)
The standout was undoubtedly the Grilled Menchi Katsu. When I cut into it, an abundance of juicy goodness burst out—so satisfying to see and even better to taste. The dish highlighted the rich flavor of Hayama Beef, perfectly cooked to keep the juices intact.

The iron-plate-served dishes, such as the Fried Jumbo Prawn and Mini Hamburg Steak, were equally impressive. The prawns were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the homemade tartar sauce added just the right amount of tang. Meanwhile, the Hayama Beef Hamburg Steak, paired with a rich demi-glace sauce, provided a comforting depth of flavor. Each bite, from the meat to the roasted vegetables on the side, was divine.

“The Menchi Katsu was a juicy delight—I couldn’t help but savor every bite!”
Highlight 2: A Cozy Atmosphere That Feels Like Home

Stepping into Yuunagitei feels like entering a family home. Guests are asked to remove their shoes at the entrance and switch to slippers, creating an intimate and relaxed vibe. It’s the perfect setting for a leisurely meal, whether you’re catching up with loved ones or savoring a moment to yourself.
The restaurant’s layout includes a cozy first floor and an equally charming second floor. With its wooden interiors and welcoming atmosphere, it offers a dining experience that is both personal and serene. The friendly staff, including the owners, are always there with a warm smile to make you feel at home.

“Dining here felt like visiting my grandparents’ home—so comfortable and nostalgic!”

Family-Friendly: Bringing Kids to Yuunagitei

Yuunagitei is a family-friendly establishment, making it easy for parents to dine with young children. As guests are required to remove their shoes, parents can relax, knowing their little ones are in a clean, safe environment. For families with babies, note that strollers should be left at the entrance, and the staircase leading to the second floor is a bit steep, so caution is advised when navigating it.
Despite these minor considerations, the staff’s attentiveness and welcoming attitude ensure a stress-free experience for parents. Whether it’s keeping the little ones entertained or accommodating special requests, Yuunagitei makes dining out with kids a breeze.

Dog-Friendly Note: Take Yuunagitei to Go!
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside Yuunagitei. However, the restaurant offers an extensive takeout menu, making it a perfect option for enjoying a gourmet meal with your furry friend at nearby spots like Morito Beach. Imagine savoring Hayama Beef Menchi Katsu or a Fried Prawn Bento while your pup enjoys the fresh ocean breeze!
The takeout options include:
- Special Hamburg Steak Bento: ¥2,000
- Grilled Menchi Katsu Bento: ¥2,000
- Fried Jumbo Prawn Bento: ¥2,500
- Mixed Prawn and Hamburg Bento: ¥2,500
