Even living in Hayama, there are places that make you think, “Wait… was this view always here?”

Today, I’m introducing UNDER THE PALMO HAYAMA, a seaside lounge by Morito Beach.

It’s a completely different kind of ocean view—the sea framed from inside a minimalist, concrete building, unlike what you see from the shore.

It gave me this strange, wonderful feeling—like I’d been whisked away to an overseas resort.

“I want to spend a slightly special moment in Hayama.”

If that sounds like you, this is a place you’ll want to know about.

Attraction 1|The Main Star Isn’t the Food—It’s the View. A Carefully Designed Ocean-View Space

The first thing you notice as you step in is the simple, refined space with exposed concrete.

By keeping decoration to a minimum, the ocean in front of you feels like it pops into focus—almost like the view was intentionally framed.

You can look out over Morito Beach from here.

And on the right day, you may even spot Mt. Fuji (it depends on the weather).

The view from the second floor is especially breathtaking.

Just a note—the stairs are a bit steep, so you’ll want to be careful when carrying food and drinks.

The Morito ocean view I know so well looked completely different here. This really is a space designed for “watching the sea.”

Attraction 2|Photogenic, Satisfying Menu Items That Feel Like a Treat

This time, I ordered:

Ice Cream Croissant (1,000 yen)

Lemonade (700 yen)

The croissant was crispy on the outside and softly moist inside.

It paired perfectly with the ice cream—beautiful to look at, and genuinely satisfying too.

There are lots of colorful drinks that match the scenery, and they photograph wonderfully.

It also seems they offer non-alcoholic cocktails and light meals (please check the latest details).

You might think, “Is it a bit pricey?”—but here, it makes sense if you see it as a price that includes the view.

Honestly, the view is the main course. Even just one drink feels totally worth it.

Attraction 3|A “Beach Lounge” Built for Deep Relaxation

The terrace seating is spacious, and some chairs feel big enough to fully stretch out in.

With the sound of the waves and gentle background music blending together, time seems to slow down here.

It also sounds like the space can be used for workations, events, and private rentals (please confirm the latest details).

Nature, architecture, and sound.

This balance creates the kind of luxurious “space in your day” that feels so Hayama.

Are you looking for a place that feels a little special for a moms’ meet-up?

Or a spot that will leave a lasting impression on friends visiting from out of town?

This is the kind of place that fits those moments perfectly.

Attraction 4|“The View Is the Star” — A Philosophy of Designing Relaxation

One of the biggest charms of UNDER THE PALMO isn’t only the food or drinks. The entire space is built around a clear idea: “The star is the view.”

In an interview featured by Jimoto Ryohin, PR representative Irie-san shared that the interior is intentionally kept simple so the scenery of Morito Beach, Sagami Bay, and even Enoshima and Mt. Fuji beyond can stand out. The exposed concrete, while minimal and industrial, works like a picture frame—making the blues of the sea and sky feel even more vivid.

The ocean at Morito is familiar to me, but from inside this space, it felt like a completely different world. Same sea, totally different magic.

The terrace chairs are designed to be big enough to lounge in comfortably. Irie-san also said they wanted to create a place where everyone can relax the most—whether you’re enjoying conversation with friends, zoning out to the waves, or simply recharging. On the second floor, you might even see people working on laptops while gazing out at the sea, making it feel like a real workation-friendly lounge.

They also host healing events like yoga on an irregular basis, and the venue can be used for parties or even wedding photo shoots (please confirm current availability). It’s not just a cafe—it’s a lounge that truly prioritizes “how people unwind.”

You might come for the menu, but what will likely stay with you the longest is this view. Spending time at your own pace while feeling the seasons of Morito Beach—that, to me, is the heart of UNDER THE PALMO.

Baby and Kid-Friendly Note

Kids are welcome, but because there are stairs inside, strollers may be a bit tricky.

It may be possible if you lift the stroller yourself, but please use caution and consider quieter times if you’re visiting with little ones.

Dog Information

The terrace seating appears to be available. For indoor seating with dogs, please confirm the latest policy.

Because there are steps and stairs, you’ll want to manage leashes carefully and consider whether carrying your dog is necessary depending on where you sit.

Summary|If You Want a Resort-Like Moment in Hayama, Start Here

UNDER THE PALMO HAYAMA is a place where you can enjoy food and drinks, but the true main character is the view.

With Morito Beach stretching out in front of you, you can spend time slowly, quietly, and intentionally—like you’ve slipped into a different world for a moment.

Whether you live in Hayama or you’re visiting for the first time, I hope you’ll experience “the ocean you know” from a brand-new angle.
