This blog features perfect places for moms, dog lovers, and travelers visiting Hayama. Today, I took a little detour to a very popular bakery in Ashina, Yokosuka: Sol table select.

It was a cold, rainy day, but that made it lucky—many of the breads that usually sell out quickly were still available!

I had a lovely chat with the owner and got to hear all about the charm of this little bakery.

Highlight 1: A Bread Treasure Box Overflowing with Joy

The charm of Sol lies in its abundant and varied bread selection.

At 11 a.m. sharp, the shelves are filled with freshly baked bread. It’s truly a treasure box that makes you exclaim, “Wow!”

If you’re a bread lover, this scene is pure bliss!

The savory and sweet breads are all fluffy and packed with fillings. The roast chicken and roast beef sandwiches, in particular, are hearty and satisfying. Here’s what I bought—and every item was absolutely delicious:

  • Roast Chicken (450 yen)
  • Roast Beef (450 yen)
  • Blueberry Cream Cheese (250 yen)
  • Chiffon Cake (280 yen)
  • Red Bean Butter (250 yen)
  • Melon Bread (200 yen)

*Prices may change. Please check the latest info before visiting.

Whether for a meal or a snack, every bite struck a perfect balance between bread and filling.

Highlight 2: A Cozy Space Full of Character

Sol originally aimed to be a cafe, but due to limited space and the pandemic, it transitioned into a takeout-only bakery.

Despite that, the shop is filled with beautiful Polish pottery, reflecting the owner’s taste and love for charming tableware. You’ll find elegant Polish ceramics adorning the counter and shelves.

Owner: “More than bread, I really loved Polish dishes. That’s why I wanted to run a cafe.”

True to her words, the shop feels like a cozy European atelier, full of warmth and personality.

Highlight 3: A Hidden Gem Worth Finding

Sol table select is located in a quiet residential area of Ashina, Yokosuka. Honestly, it’s quite easy to miss unless you’re using Google Maps.

But that hidden quality adds to its charm. Many customers enjoy the feeling of a treasure hunt, smiling with joy when they finally find the shop.

That moment of discovery makes the bread taste even better, don’t you think?

As you twist and turn through the narrow lanes, a small white building appears unexpectedly—that surprise adds to the “hidden gem” charm of Sol.

For Families with Babies & Kids

While Sol doesn’t have an eat-in space, it’s perfect for takeout, making it a stress-free option for families with kids. The shop is small, so strollers might be tricky to navigate inside, but

their bread makes the perfect treat to bring along to a moms’ gathering or picnic!

Dog-Friendly Tips

Dogs are not allowed inside the store, but you can grab some takeout and enjoy it nearby with your furry friend.

Since it’s located in a quiet neighborhood, it’s a lovely spot to stop by during a walk.
