There are so many lovely places around Hayama and Zushi where you can sit back and enjoy a slow, satisfying meal.
This time, I’d like to introduce Teuchi Soba Okamura, a respected soba restaurant tucked into a residential neighborhood in Zushi.
Though it stands in a quiet area, it is a popular spot well known among people who truly love soba.
I visited with my mother that day. She usually eats only a small amount, so I thought we would share the kamo nanban together, but…
To my surprise, she finished an entire bowl all by herself.

“Wait… you could eat that much?”
That’s how good it was. It was the kind of place where you simply can’t help but keep eating, a restaurant serving truly delicious soba.
So today, I’d love to share the charms of Teuchi Soba Okamura from the Hayama Navi point of view.

Highlight 1: My First “Ten-nuki” Experience and the Gentle Flavor of the Broth

Here’s what we ordered that day:
• Ten-nuki (kakiage) 880 yen
• Agedashi tofu 480 yen
• Tempura zaru soba 2,000 yen
• Kamo nanban 1,850 yen
The one that stayed with me the most was the ten-nuki.

Ten-nuki is a dish where you enjoy tempura in soba broth without the soba noodles.
At Okamura, the ten-nuki featured a kakiage packed with tiny shrimp, soaking in the broth until it became wonderfully soft and delicate.
The broth had such a gentle, comforting flavor that I immediately thought, “I want to have this again.”

“It was my first time trying ten-nuki… and I think I loved it!”
Highlight 2: The Kind of Soba Whose Quality You Understand in One Bite

We had planned to share the kamo nanban, but the soba was so delicious that my mother ended up finishing the whole bowl herself.
Even though she usually eats only small portions now, she had no trouble finishing it, which told me just how fragrant and smooth the soba really was.
My husband ordered the tempura zaru soba, and he was equally impressed, saying, “This is really good.”
You could clearly taste the aroma of the buckwheat in every bite. It was carefully handmade soba that left a lasting impression.
Highlight 3: The Story of a Shop Owner Who Left Corporate Life to Become a Soba Artisan

The owner, Morinori Okamura, was originally a sales representative for a manufacturing company.
After encountering the legendary soba master Takahashi Kunihiro’s noodles at the famous restaurant “Okina” in Yamanashi, he was deeply moved by the taste and decided to leave his corporate career behind.
He later trained at the well-known soba restaurant “Akatsukian” in Hakone and eventually opened his own shop at the age of 55.
Even now, he continues pursuing his ideal bowl of soba.
You can feel that dedication clearly in the refined quality of the soba with just one bite.

Highlight 4: A Calm Space Where You Can Enjoy a Relaxed Meal

The interior has a calm, understated atmosphere where you can take your time enjoying your meal.
There are about 18 seats, and most guests seemed to be quietly savoring their food.

“This might be the perfect place to bring my parents and enjoy a relaxed meal together.”
It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a quiet, grown-up dining experience.
Note for Families with Babies or Children

The restaurant has a calm and quiet atmosphere.
Since stroller access and visits with babies are not confirmed, it’s best to check with the restaurant before visiting.
Because the restaurant is not very large, visiting outside busy hours may be more comfortable for families with children.

Teuchi Soba Okamura, located in a residential neighborhood in Zushi, is a place where you can enjoy beautifully crafted soba in a calm atmosphere.
The gentle broth of the ten-nuki, the fragrant soba noodles, and the peaceful dining space.
It may not be flashy, but it’s the kind of place that makes you think, “I want to come back again,” after finishing your meal.

“Next time… I want to come back and enjoy a full bowl all by myself!”
With that small personal mission in mind, we left the restaurant.
