Hello there! This is Hayama Navi, where I introduce great stores and places around Hayama. Please give me your best regards! This time, I’d like to introduce you to a new seafood restaurant.

Introducing Sashima Naruichi Shokudo (Sashima Naruichi Restaurant), a delicious fish restaurant that opened this summer in Hayama 🙌

Hayama is very close to the ocean and fishing ports. When I first moved to Hayama, I thought there would be many places to eat delicious fish. Surprisingly, however, there are very few such restaurants.

“Naruichi Shokudo” may have taken Hayama’s current situation into consideration and landed in Hayama like a comet.

The owner is the wife of a fisherman from the fishing port of Sashima in Yokosuka, a town next to Hayama, and the manager is his younger brother who worked for many years as a chef at a restaurant in Sashima called “Kaneiki” that serves delicious fish!

I had a chance to try freshly caught, plump, fresh fish and here is my report!

The restaurant introduction

The location

“Naruichi Shokudo” is located in a quiet residential area off the beaten path in Hayama, just around the corner from the Sotetsu Rozen supermarket, in a busy area that is home to a Japanese sweets shop, a restaurant, and a wine shop.

After the closure of the Italian restaurant that used to be there, Naruichi Shokudo is now open, and as a local, I am very happy to see it!

There is no station in Hayama. The nearest station is JR Zushi Station. Please come by bus or car.

Establishment

Naruici-Shokudo” opened in August 2024. Since its opening, it has been featured in various media and already had many customers lined up outside on weekends and holidays.

It is rare to find a place where you can eat fresh fish!

Introduction

It is a very compact restaurant. There were roughly 8 seats set up. It is very cute.

I visited on a weekday after 1:30, which was after the peak lunch time, so there was no wait time, but there were still about 5 groups of customers.

I recommend coming early on holidays to avoid waiting in line!

The restaurant is very clean since it has just opened. The restrooms are clean and neat.

The owner, manager, and employees are all very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed chatting with them easily.

There were neighbors and locals from Sashima, so the atmosphere was very friendly. A fisherman brought fish in a cooler box and the owner treated him to lunch, it is a handsome fisherman’s restaurant feel.

Fish is fresh!

The restaurant sells freshly landed local seafood! The store is owned by a fisherman’s wife!

This is a real pleasure. The freshly caught fish is exquisite. There are not many places where you can buy freshly caught fish even if you walk around a fishing port.

If you go to a restaurant owned by a fisherman’s wife, you can be sure to get delicious fish.

The menu also includes roast beef nigiri (Hayama beef), which looks very delicious. I want to try it next time.

The menu may not always be available depending on the weather and catch of the day. Please check the menu on Instagram, etc. before visiting the restaurant.

I wanted sashimi, fried fish, and boiled fish! I was greedy, so I ordered the Naruichi set meal for 2,200 yen. It is a hearty set that includes sashimi, fried fish, and boiled fish.

This menu satisfies the desires of the greedy 👏.

The sashimi changes daily. They are all thick slices and plump. I forgot to ask, but they are probably local fish.

Fried fish is a must. The fried horse mackerel is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Fried horse mackerel is said to be a popular menu item. It’s the royal road, isn’t it?

You can’t go wrong with it!

The miso soup is also very filling. The miso soup is made with fish, and the fish is also included in the soup. I love miso soup from fishmongers.

Nori (seaweed) also does a good job. The fishing port around here produces a lot of seaweed and wakame, so this must be a local product as well!

Since I went alone, I couldn’t finish the whole dish, so I asked the owner if I could take it home with me, and he graciously wrapped it up for me to take home. I enjoyed it the next morning.

Babies and kids note

This is a restaurant that welcomes people with babies and children. When I went there, there was a family with a small baby.

It is a compact restaurant, but there is enough space to leave baby strollers and other items at the end, so mothers can easily go there with their children.
