I finally visited the Chinese izakaya “Kamehachi Hanten,” a place I’d been curious about for a long time, near Zushi-Hayama Station.
Even though it’s just steps from the station, the inside feels calm and relaxed. It works great for lunch, or for a drink in the evening—an easy, reliable neighborhood Chinese spot.
Have you ever thought, “Is there a quick, tasty Chinese place near the station?” If so, this one might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Highlight ①: Seriously Spicy, Seriously Addictive Mapo Tofu Set

This time, I ordered the Mapo Tofu set (1,200 yen).
The first bite told me everything: a bold, legit spicy flavor. The thick sauce clings to the tofu, and you’ll want rice with every bite. Reviews also describe it as “strongly seasoned” and “thick,” and I totally get it—it’s a punchy plate (Source: Tabelog reviews).

Honestly, it was spicier than I expected. But that’s exactly why it’s so addictive…!
It comes with rice, egg soup, and pickled vegetables, so it’s super satisfying. Perfect when you want a solid weekday lunch.

Highlight ②: Careful, It’s Hot! A Piping-Hot Ankake Chinese Rice Bowl

The other dish was the Chinese rice bowl (1,000 yen).
Steam was rising the moment it arrived—the thick, glossy sauce stays hot to the very last bite. It’s hot enough to seriously warn you, but that’s part of the joy.
It’s loaded with ingredients and has great volume. A perfect bowl for chilly days, or anytime you want a comforting boost.
Highlight ③: Gyoza Available from Just 3 Pieces

I also ordered 3 pieces of gyoza (450 yen).
According to reviews, they’re “well-mixed and flavorful,” with “a gentle sweetness from the vegetables” (Source: Tabelog reviews). They’re slightly small and easy to eat—just the right size to add to your lunch.

Being able to order just three pieces is actually such a nice option when you’re dining solo.
Great location × Casual Chinese izakaya convenience
Kamehachi Hanten is just steps from Keikyu Zushi-Hayama Station (Source: store information). Lunch is served from 11:30 to 14:00, and dinner from 17:00 to 23:00 (last order 22:00 / Sundays until 22:00, last order 21:00). They’re also open straight through on weekends, making it a Chinese izakaya where you can even enjoy a daytime drink (Source: official Instagram).
Locals seem to love it too, with reviews mentioning “a great atmosphere” and “perfect for a casual drink from lunchtime” (Source: Tabelog reviews).
