A hidden Italian gem in Hayama, where warmth meets authentic flavors!
Today, we’re excited to introduce FRUTTO, a charming Italian restaurant nestled in the residential streets of Hayama. Celebrating its 16th anniversary in 2025, this cozy spot is lovingly run by its owners, offering a welcoming ambiance and authentic Italian cuisine.
“Frutto” means “fruit” or “to bear fruit” in Italian, symbolizing the owners’ journey and their passion for bringing something special to life. This beloved restaurant has captured the hearts of locals, and we’re here to share all its delightful highlights with you!

Highlight #1: Handmade Pasta and Exquisite Meats

One of Frutto’s standout features is its handmade pasta. The chewy, fresh texture immediately reveals the chef’s dedication to quality. Among their specialties is the rich Hayama Beef Lasagna, layered with savory bolognese sauce, generous portions of Hayama beef, and gooey melted cheese—a dish that truly warms the heart.
Another highlight is the grilled Kumamoto Akaushi Beef. Cooked to perfection, the tender and juicy red meat showcases its natural flavors, making it one of Frutto’s signature dishes.
While this dish isn’t part of the lunch set or course menus, it’s a must-try for meat lovers. Be sure to check the blackboard specials or order it during dinner!

I’m already planning to try the Akaushi Beef next time!

Highlight #2: Perfectly Balanced Lunch Sets

Frutto’s lunch set (¥1,980) strikes the perfect balance of flavor, portion, and price. The set includes bread, an appetizer, a choice of pasta, a small dessert, and a drink, offering plenty of variety. The ability to select your pasta and drink is a thoughtful touch.
I chose the Hayama Beef Lasagna, but the Smoked Mackerel Peperoncino and Shrimp Tomato Cream Sauce also sounded tempting.
The cauliflower soup appetizer was unexpectedly sweet and refined.
Though I typically don’t like cauliflower, I finished this soup before realizing it was cauliflower-based—an absolute delight!
The rosemary-scented bread paired beautifully with the soup, and the meal concluded with a small dessert and coffee, leaving me fully satisfied but not overly full.

The portions were just right—satisfying but not overwhelming. This is what I call the perfect lunch set!
If you’re looking for a more indulgent meal, the mini-course with a main dish (¥3,300) is a great option!
Note: Prices and menu items are accurate as of January 2025 but are subject to change.

Highlight #3: Warm Hospitality in a Relaxing Space

Frutto is housed in a charming standalone building with a triangular roof, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Inside, warm wooden interiors and large windows that let in natural light make the space both elegant and comforting. The attention to detail in every aspect of the decor reflects the owners’ passion for creating a relaxing dining experience.
But what truly stands out is the owners’ exceptional hospitality. Every visit feels like being welcomed into a friend’s home, where thoughtful service ensures that both first-time visitors and regulars feel completely at ease. It’s no wonder Frutto has built a loyal following among locals and visitors alike.

The warmth of their hospitality truly makes you feel at home. It’s a space where anyone can relax and enjoy a meal without feeling out of place.
