Introducing “DAYS 386”in Hayama 🙌
DAYS 386 is located in Motomachi, Hayama, in a residential area on beach street. The building is a 130-year-old vacant house that used to be a long-established hardware store.
It has a cool storefront with a vintage space that resembles an American diner.
It is loved by locals and is a place for relaxation where customers returning from the beach and foreigners also gather.
The main selling point of the restaurant is its excellent “hamburgers” made with homemade buns with rye and 100% Japanese beef patties.
This is a highly recommended place that is particular about both the restaurant and the food.
『DAYS 386』
Location
“DAYS386” is located in a corner of a very busy neighborhood in Hayama, very close to Morito Beach. It is surrounded by a residential area with very narrow streets where large buses come and go.
Please be careful of cars when walking there.
There is no train station in Hayama, so the nearest station is JR Zushi station. From Zushi, it is around 20 minutes by bus.
Establishment
“DAYS386” opened at Christmas 2011 and is now in its 13th year.
The owner is Mr. Takemiya, who was originally the manager of JACK CAFE in Yokohama. He opened the cafe in an old private house in Hayama when he became independent.
Shop
Once inside through the eye-catching antique door, we found ourselves in a wonderful vintage space with white plaster and thick beams.
By the way, there were seats outside, but it was very hot that day, so I went inside💦.
It looks like it will be nice to sit outside in the fall!
It is an open space with high ceilings. It is hard to believe that the building was a 130-year-old hardware store.
The owner, who used to be in a band, is a music lover, so there were splendid speakers and guitars randomly placed on the floor.
It seems that live concerts are held regularly.
I was shown to my seat on an antique sofa.
It complements the atmosphere of the American diner.
I visited for lunch.
The restaurant’s main selling point is HOMEMADE BURGERS, made with homemade buns with rye baked every morning and 100% domestic beef patties. The volume is huge.
Half size is 1,300 yen and regular size is 1,580 yen.
I ordered another item on the back menu, the Cuban Sandwich (1,280 yen).
Looking at the Review, I saw that either the burger or the Cuban sandwich was the second menu item, so I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which seemed easier to eat.
I am not confident that I can eat a big burger neatly!
Here is the Cuban sandwich.
Looking at the restaurant’s Instagram, the owner wrote the following about the Cuban sandwich
Roast pork, ham and cheese, the basic ingredients of a so-called Cuban sandwich, with a twist. Sauerkraut and lettuce are also added, and the entire homemade bun is pressed!
The key is the roast pork, which is marinated in various spices and fruit juices for a whole day, then slowly roasted in the oven and left to rest for another day.
The roast pork, which took a lot of work, was extremely tender and deeply flavored. And sandwiched between pressed homemade buns, it was truly delicious. And it was easy to eat!
The accompanying fries are also freshly fried and crispy. They are thicker fries. Freshly fried potatoes are a high point!
Here is the roast pork with a lot of work.
The bun is pressed and very easy to eat.
In addition to burgers, there are also rice plates, homemade sweets, and many alcoholic beverages on the menu, so you are unlikely to get bored no matter how many times you come back.
We had homemade ginger ale. It’s great in the hot summer.
And the burger is still very attractive. I will definitely try this next time.
Gallery Shop
At the back of the store was a gallery space called “Antique&Gallery Re:Days”
Beautiful greenery in the backyard space.
The Shop sold works by various artists. There was also an antique general store, old books, records, and gourd speakers.
Baby and Kids
This restaurant welcomes customers with babies and children. There are spacious sofa seats so you can spend a relaxing time.
There is no parking space, so you will have to park at a nearby coin-operated parking lot. The street is very narrow, so please be careful.
