Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Asina Bakery Asibe (芦名ベーカリー 芦兵衛), a popular bakery in Yokosuka highly recommended by locals. Lines start forming before the shop even opens—what’s the secret behind its popularity?

Highlight 1: Every Bread Is a Masterpiece!

On the day of my visit, I was lucky to find a wide variety of breads available. Here are some of the delicious items I picked:
- Shell Cream Bread (¥180) A cute shell-shaped bread with plenty of rich cream inside. Not overly sweet, it offers an elegant flavor that sets it apart from regular cream bread.
- Local Octopus Bread (¥220) Bread shaped like an octopus! It’s filled with slightly spicy tomato sauce and chunks of local octopus, delivering a burst of umami with every bite.

- Cheese Focaccia (¥270) Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with rich, melted cheese that’s sure to make you come back for more.

- Corn and Tuna Quiche-Style Bread (¥240) Sweet corn combined with savory tuna makes for a light yet satisfying meal.

- Wiener Rosso (¥260) A plump sausage combined with a delicious tomato-based sauce—this bread is a hearty and flavorful treat.

- Chocolate Scone (¥190) Crispy on the outside and moist inside, with just the right hint of bittersweet chocolate. A must-try for chocolate lovers!
- Coffee Danish (¥180) The rich, bittersweet coffee flavor makes this an ideal companion for your morning brew.

- Raisin Donut (¥200) Soft, fluffy dough with bursts of sweet raisins, making this simple yet satisfying snack a favorite.

It’s a shame the curry bread was sold out! But with so many delicious options, I now have even more reasons to come back.
Inside the bakery, you’ll find an ever-changing selection of freshly baked goods, making each visit a new adventure.
Highlight 2: Insider Tips for Grabbing the Best Bread

The staff shared an important tip: the best selection of freshly baked bread is available at 8 AM, right when the store opens. But be prepared to wait, as there’s always a line, even on weekdays. Only 4-5 people can enter at once, so it may take a while.
If you prefer to avoid the crowds, 9 AM to 10 AM is the best time to visit. The early morning rush will have settled by then, and you can enter the store more smoothly.
Peli: “I visited at 2 PM and was lucky to find many options still available! The staff told me it’s rare to see this much bread left in the afternoon.”
For those coming from afar, placing a phone reservation is highly recommended. This way, you can secure your favorite items without worrying about availability.
Tip: Call around 9 AM to reserve your bread and pick it up later in the afternoon for a hassle-free experience.

Highlight 3: Fresh Local Yokosuka Vegetables

Right outside the bakery, you’ll find a self-service vegetable stand run by Suzunari Farm (鈴也ファーム). They offer fresh, locally grown vegetables at reasonable prices, making it easy to grab both delicious bread and fresh produce in one trip.
The vegetables from Suzunari Farm are known for their rich flavor and high quality, which has earned them a loyal local following.

What’s better than buying freshly baked bread and getting your hands on fresh veggies at the same time? It’s a win-win!
Baby-Friendly and Family Notes

Asina Bakery Asibe is a family-friendly spot, making it easy for parents to visit with kids.
- Bench seating available: You can take a quick break outside after purchasing your bread.
