Today I’m introducing a popular café near Zushi Station: “andsaturday coffee & cakes”.
It’s just a few minutes’ walk from JR Zushi Station. At the end of a small lane leading into a quiet residential area, you’ll find a building with striking deep red brick walls. This is andsaturday coffee & cakes, a former ENT clinic that has been beautifully renovated into a café. With its spacious room, large windows and antique-style furniture, the place has a warm, nostalgic atmosphere.
When I visited, a big Christmas tree stood in the middle of the café, and together with the soft lighting it filled the room with a cozy, festive mood. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and homemade cakes drifted through the air. Families with small children, groups of friends and people enjoying a quiet moment with a book… everyone seemed to be spending their own “Saturday morning time” in this café.

It’s actually rare to find a café that works both for a lively moms’ meetup and for quiet solo time. I felt this place truly makes room for both.

Highlight 1: A spacious, relaxing café that feels like a Saturday morning
The concept behind “andsaturday coffee & cakes” is simple and lovely: “A place where anyone can enjoy time that feels like a relaxed Saturday.” True to that idea, the café is full of small touches that help your shoulders drop and your mind unwind.
Because the building was originally a clinic, the ceilings are high and the space feels open. Tables are placed with generous distance between them, and there are many different types of seating: a big communal table, two-person tables, a bench by the window and counter seats. It’s designed so that both solo guests and groups can feel comfortable.
The antique furniture, lighting and tableware all reflect the owners’ taste. Even the counter, inlaid with cherry shells and coral from Zushi Beach, gives off a sense of handmade warmth. It’s the kind of interior that makes you think, “It’s my first time here, but it somehow feels familiar.”

It feels like the perfect little reward: getting up a bit early on Saturday to enjoy a really good cup of coffee in a place like this.
Highlight 2: Their “andsaturday blend” and homemade cakes are the perfect match

Another big charm of this café is the pairing of carefully brewed coffee with truly delicious homemade cakes.
Their signature coffee is the “andsaturday blend”, which they have been serving since 2017. It was created with the image of “a cup that helps you settle into a calm Saturday morning”. The balance of bitterness and acidity is just right, making it smooth and easy to drink to the very last sip.
In the cake display you’ll usually find around eight kinds of sweets at any given time. There are seasonal fruit tarts and classic baked cakes, so just choosing what to order is part of the fun.
I chose the strawberry tart with pistachio cream. The crust was crisp and fragrant, topped with gently sweet cream and juicy, tangy strawberries. It paired beautifully with the coffee.

The café’s signature cake “Saturday Citron” is a special lemon cake with bright lemon aroma, rich buttery flavor and a pleasant crunch of pistachios. Each one is baked carefully, and it really feels like a “weekend treat” you’d want to save for your own special Saturday.
Highlight 3: A story that began as a “Saturday-only coffee shop”

The story of “andsaturday coffee & cakes” actually began with a tiny “Saturday-only coffee shop”.
The owners moved to Zushi around 2017. While working full-time as company employees on weekdays, they wondered, “What would happen if we opened up the coffee we quietly enjoy at home on Saturdays to the neighborhood?” That idea led them to rent a small space in another part of Zushi and open a shop that was literally only open on Saturdays.
Back then, it really was “open only on Saturdays”. One local told me, “Every time I walked past it was closed, so I kept wondering if it truly only opened on Saturdays.” It became a bit of a legendary weekend café. In 2024, that small shop moved to its current location, the space got bigger, opening days increased, and the café took on the style you see today.
Without completely remodeling the more-than-40-year-old building, they carefully blended the original look of the neighborhood with the things they love. The result is a space where their concept—“opening up our Saturday time to the town”—feels almost tangible.

From the atmosphere in the café and the way the staff talk to guests, you can really feel how carefully they’ve protected their “Saturday time” over the years. It made sense to me why people become regulars.

Highlight 4: A hub that connects the town and its people through coffee

“andsaturday coffee & cakes” is more than just a place to enjoy coffee and cake. It also serves as a kind of hub that connects the town and its people through coffee.
The café regularly hosts pop-up events featuring coffee, crafts and everyday lifestyle items, creating opportunities for local shops and makers to meet and collaborate.
Especially impressive are events like the “Umimachi Coffee Festival” and “Shonan Umimachi Coffee Festival”, which bring together coffee shops and small stores from Zushi, Hayama, the Miura Peninsula and the wider Shonan area. The owners themselves reach out to other shopkeepers, driven by the wish to “help both locals and visitors discover the wonderful places that already exist in these towns.”
Strolling through the streets with a cup in hand, meeting new people and new flavors as you go—these events offer exactly that kind of experience. The fact that they continue to organize them shows just how much the café values its relationship with the community.
Baby & Kids Note

The café is spacious and laid out in a way that makes it easy to bring in a stroller.
It can get busy on weekends and around lunchtime, but there are many families with small children, so you don’t feel overly self-conscious if your kids are a bit lively. There is also a small area with simple toys, making it a good spot for moms’ meetups or a relaxed parent-and-child café time.

When I visited, there were lots of families with babies and toddlers. I really felt that comforting sense of “there’s a place for us here, even with kids”. If you’re looking for somewhere to really talk with your mom friends, this café is worth putting on your list.
