Introducing Hayama Tori Gin Honten, a long-established restaurant established over 20 years ago, located at the foot of Hayama 🙌

The restaurant is located in a large old house style. Surrounded by trees, you can enjoy delicious kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) and yakitori (grilled chicken).

It has a large parking lot, making it a great place to come for a drive.

Be careful not to burn yourself with the kamameshi! Enjoy the excellent kamameshi with a lot of fluff.

Hayama Tori Gin Main Restaurant

location

Hayama Tori Gin Honten is located a distance from the center of Hayama. It is conveniently located right off the Yokosuka IC exit of the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road and has a parking lot for 26 cars!

It is the perfect place to come for lunch after a leisurely drive from central Tokyo to Hayama.

Thankfully, there is no lunch break on weekends and holidays, and the restaurant is open from 11:00 to 21:00! If you are prepared to wait a little, you will never be a lunch refugee.

There is no station in Hayama. If you take a bus from Zushi Station, it is a 30-minute ride to Kinugasa Station, and a 15-minute walk from the Ikegami Jutaku Iriguchi bus stop. It is very difficult for those who cannot use a car.

establishment

Hayama Tori Gin Honten” is a long-established restaurant that has been in business for more than 20 years.

The large, big house restaurant also has quite a history.

The restaurant introduction

The restaurant is quite spacious. It has 96 seats.

The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with tables, and counter seats.

Many customers were seen at legal and celebratory events. It is perfect for families and large group gatherings. There were also many tourists and people who appeared to be local residents.

I went there around 2:00 pm, after peak noon on a Saturday, and there were two groups in line, but if you register at the ticketing machine, you can wait in your car and have an automated voice call you when it is your turn.

It’s nice to be able to wait in the car. And on weekends, they are open all day without a lunch break, so you don’t have to be a lunch refugee!

A frog at the entrance. It must be a symbol. It is cute.

The interior of the restaurant has a calm atmosphere. You can see the surrounding green trees from inside the restaurant, creating a very nice atmosphere.

There is also counter seating, which is great for one person. From the counter, I was amazed to see a row of stoves cooking their famous kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot).

Good kamameshi and yakitori (grilled chicken)!

The restaurant sells kamahan (rice cooked in a pot) and yakitori (grilled chicken). Please note that kamameshi takes 20-30 minutes to be served. Kamahan is cooked from fresh rice after receiving an order.

You should definitely order kamahan because you will be served hot kamahan!

While waiting for the kamameshi, the yakitori arrives. The yakitori is grilled slowly over charcoal.

At about 240 yen a piece, the price is not cheap for a commoner like me, but the taste is excellent. Both the salt and sauce are delicious. Even looking back at the photo now, I am still hungry!

I’ve been eating only yakitori from the supermarket lately, so this is a totally different quality!。

ぺり

The yakitori was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The liver was especially delicious.

Time passed quickly while I was enjoying the yakitori, and then came the kamameshi.

The moment the lid is opened is a moment of bliss. A wonderful smell spread out. I ordered the most popular dish, the Gomoku Kamahan, for 1,500 yen. Hot kamameshi is the best.

My husband ordered the eel kamameshi, even though this is a chicken restaurant. The price was 4,000 yen.
It is a reward for working hard every day

And of course, there was okoge (roasted rice). Okoge is the best!

Then, I made ochazuke (rice with soup) with the broth that came with the rice. I must say, soup and rice is the best.

I’m glad I was born Japanese.

Baby and child note

This is a restaurant that welcomes people with babies and children. When I was there, there was a family with a small baby.

The restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate a baby carriage.

Summary

This was an introduction to Hayama Tori Gin Honten, a long-established one-house restaurant located at the foot of Hayama.

It is located in a great location with lots of greenery and a great atmosphere, where you can enjoy hot kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) and yakitori (grilled chicken).

It is a very spacious restaurant, and on Saturdays and Sundays they are open all day without a lunch break, so you will probably have to wait a bit, but you can certainly get in.

I recommend a visit on a day off in the late afternoon when you drive by for a slightly late lunch.

It is the best place I can recommend!
